Marisa Hamamoto, a dancer, founder and artistic director of Infinite Flow from California, knew all too well what it was like to be different from a young age.

She grew up during the 80s and 90s in Irvine, California as the only Asian-American kid at her school. As a result she was occasionally bullied for the color of her skin and the shape of her eyes.

During her senior year, Marisa was a dance major at a performing arts school.

“None of my classmates chose me to be part of their work for the end-of-the-year Student Choreography Showcase” she said.

Marisa stood alone in tears in front of the casting notice that was pinned on the department bulletin board.

“I then realized that there were 10 other dancers in the lower grades who were also excluded.”

She wiped away her tears, took out a pen and added the ten dancers as cast members for her her own production.

The year is 2013 and Evie, a 19 year old girl from the UK, was beginning her first year of university. However, she was conflicted as to whether she should continue with her studies.

Her dad had passed away and her mother suffered a stroke. She was considering if she should leave her studies to care for her mother and siblings.

The best friend decided to send a letter request through The World Needs More Love Letters.

Several weeks later Evie received the letter bundle. She called up her best friend in the middle of the night.

She was in tears as she thanked her best friend over the phone. Continue reading “Kindness is only a handwritten letter or card away: 12 Days of More Love Letters”

What do you want to be when you grow up? A question that most people have been asked at least once in their life.

For Hament Chavda, his teenage self was focused on becoming a pharmacist. However, it was not until later in life would he learn that he would leave pharmacy to move from London to Australia and is a co-founder with his wife Sonal of the business Turmeric Latte Mix. Hament has been on a road of constant personal growth which he then uses to help others with their health and self-limiting beliefs. People with prosthetic limbs can be actors too. Just ask Hollywood bionic actress Angel Giuffria.

I had the pleasure of interviewing bionic actress Angel Giuffria about growing up without a left arm, biomechatronics, acting, discrimination and her research in psychology.

She was such a lovely person to interview. We shared plenty of laughs and nerdy talk about prosthetic limb technology. There are also beautiful moments where the interview becomes more personal and emotive.

Enjoy! Continue reading People with prosthetic limbs can be actors too. Just ask Hollywood bionic actress Angel Giuffria.

How this ballet school is making a difference in the lives of typical and special needs kids is incredible

Kids are attracted to all sorts of things in life. Whether it’s ballet or soccer or painting or whatever. Kids with disabilities are the same way. I think kids with special needs deserve the same opportunities because you never know what could spark from somebody.
